Things You Should Ask Yourself
What are you struggling with at this time?
What are your expectations?
What are you hoping to gain?
Are you willing to open up and consider making changes in your life?.
Do you have time in your schedule to meet consistently?
What Is Therapy Like?
My style is collaborative and conversational. I want to hear your story as I believe there is healing in one's narrative. Sometimes therapy is the only place where one's story gets told. Who you are, where you come from is important to me.
At times, therapeutic modalities might be utilized but the actual healing occurs within the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist.
You are always in control, and because of that, therapy is interactive and requires your commitment to show up and want to change.

Dear Clients,
After much reflection, I’ve made the difficult decision to no longer accept health insurance as of June 30, 2025—approximately six months from today.
For over 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with insurance companies, and I am grateful that it has allowed me to serve many of you from different walks of life. However, I’ve found that insurance companies often create limitations that impact my ability to maintain your privacy, autonomy, and creativity in therapy. Unfortunately, this system has become increasingly frustrating and restrictive. Even with companies like Headway, which I hoped would help ease the burden, I’ve found myself disillusioned by the challenges of working with insurers—everything from their lack of transparency to the ways they retroactively adjust reimbursements, sometimes years later, demanding refunds from providers.
As a result, I’ve decided to partner with Metaya, a service that helps facilitate billing for out-of-network (OON) sessions. They will assist with handling your billing directly if you choose to continue working with me. You can learn more about their services here:

In addition, I am considering adopting a Pay What You Can (PWYC) model, which differs from a traditional sliding scale. Under this model, I’ll list my standard session prices on my website, and we’ll discuss what amount works for you based on your current financial situation. PWYC is founded on trust and mutual respect, and I believe it aligns with my values as your therapist—it’s about having an open, honest conversation rather than requiring proof of financial need.
I’m also exploring offering a few new services, including coaching, group therapy, and single-session therapy (SST). These will provide more flexible options for clients depending on their needs. Additionally, I’ll be gradually reducing my caseload as I prepare for semi-retirement.
If you decide to continue working with me through this transition, we will discuss what feels reasonable and fair for you in the coming months. If you choose to end therapy before June, or if you feel this change is not a good fit, I completely understand and am happy to provide referrals. Your well-being is always my priority, and I am deeply grateful for the time and effort you’ve invested in your growth.
Thank you for trusting me with your journey.
With appreciation,
Laura
